Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday reacted to veteran Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi’s remark on Kashmir without naming him.

Talking to the media, Virat Kohli said, “As an Indian, you want to express what is best for your nation & my interests are always for the benefit of our nation. If anything opposes it, I would never support it for sure.”

“But having said that, it’s a very personal choice for someone to comment about certain issues. Unless I have total knowledge of the issues & the intricacies of it I don’t engage in it but definitely your priority stays with your nation,” Virat Kohli further added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to comment on the shutdown in the Valley and the deaths of four civilians in crossfire during the anti-terror operations in Jammu-Kashmir.

“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?,” wrote Afridi while tagging the United Nations in his tweet.

“We respect all. And this is an example as sportsman. But when it comes to human rights we expect the same for our innocent Kashmiris,” Afridi wrote in another Tweet that he posted with a picture wherein he is posing with an Indian fan carrying a Tricolour.

Shahid Afridi’s remark came as a shutdown was observed in Kashmir following a bloody Sunday in which 20 people – 13 terrorists, four civilians and three soldiers – were killed in the three separate gunfights in Shopian and Anantnag districts.
